OnePlus 8 Pro open sale date delayed, special limited sale of OnePlus 8 on May 29th

OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro were scheduled to go on open sale in India from Friday, May 29th. However, OnePlus announced on Wednesday that it will be rescheduling the OnePlus 8 series open sale due to a halt in production. Since the company is manufacturing the flagships in the country to keep the prices lower than their international pricing, there has been a slight delay with the availability of he phones in India. OnePlus in a statement said that it is rescheduling the OnePlus 8 5G and OnePlus 8 Pro 5G open sale in the country. 

However, OnePlus added there would be a special limited sale of the OnePlus 8 5G across online and offline channels at 12PM on Friday, May 29th. Customers who have pre-booked OnePlus 8 series on Amazon.in and OnePlus stores can purchase devices when they’re in stock. OnePlus said that it would reveal the new sale schedule for both the flagships very soon and we will update you as and when that happens.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro specifications

To recall, the OnePlus 8 Pro sports a 6.78-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and Gorilla Glass 6 layer on the front and back. The phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G SoC paired with Adreno 650 GPU, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. The handset runs OxygenOS based Android 10 OS. It has IP68 water and dust resistance and 30W fast wireless charging support. As for the cameras, the OnePlus 8 Pro’s quad-camera setup includes two 48MP sensors, an 8MP unit, and a 5MP colour sensor. It has a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats. The phone houses a 4,510mAh battery and supports 30W fast wired charging.

As for the vanilla OnePlus 8, it has a relatively smaller 6.55-inch full HD+ Fluid AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It is powered by the same Snapdragon 865 5G SoC coupled with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The triple camera setup at the back includes a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 16MP ultra-wide sensor. It has a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and a 4,300mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. Both phones have an in-display fingerprint sensor for security.
