Redmi 9 budget smartphone was recently spotted on Xiaomi RF exposure page, thereby confirming its existence and the launch could be around the corner. The listing revealed the model number M2004J19I (the I at the end could be an indication of the Indian model). Now, the same model number has been spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification platform, suggesting the Redmi 9 India launch could be around the corner. It also suggests the Redmi 9 may arrive in five different models, presumably region-specific and with multiple RAM/ROM configurations. The Bluetooth certification reveals the phone will support Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and MIUI 11 custom skin.

Separately, Redmi 9 variant with model number M2004J19G is listed on the SIRIM certification platform. This reveals the handset has Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth, GPS, and dual-SIM 4G connectivity. Unfortunately, both the listings don’t reveal much about the Redmi 9 just yet, but serve as a good hint that the launch could happen shortly.

Xiaomi Redmi 9 recently passed by the FCC certification with 4,920mAh battery (likely to be a 5,000mAh unit) and support for standard 10W charging, which is a weird choice considering the Redmi 8 came with 18W fast charging. It is speculated the handset will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 processor, much like the Realme Narzo 10, and should come in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with up to 64GB storage. Some alleged Redmi 9 live images showed off the quad-camera setup at the back with a 13MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Since it is a budget offering, we expect the Redmi 9 price in India to fall under Rs 10,000.
