POCO F2 Pro not launching in India, company hints POCO M2 Pro will launch instead

Highlights
  • POCO India GM confirms POCO F2 Pro will not launch in India
  • Company will launch a brand new series in the country next
  • POCO M2 Pro is widely expected to launch in India soon

POCO has already confirmed that the next product to launch in India in about 20 days will be a smartphone. This phone was widely believed to be the POCO F2 Pro flagship phone that the company announced globally a little while ago. However, in an exclusive interview with PhoneRadar’s Amit Bhawani on YouTube, POCO India general manager C Manmohan confirmed that the next POCO phone to launch in the country will not be the POCO F2 Pro. While Manmohan did not explicitly reveal the name of the next smartphone, he mentioned that the company will be announcing a brand new series that is made “specifically for Indian POCO fans” and this is believed to be the rumoured POCO M2 Pro.

The POCO India GM added that the company is looking to target different price segments in  India and that the upcoming new series will be made in India. The smartphone will make its global debut in India, although an exact launch date is yet to be revealed.

POCO M2 Pro launching in India next?

With the company ruling out the launch of the POCO F2 Pro, there is only one other phone that has been in the news off late, called the POCO M2 Pro. This mysterious smartphone was recently certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in the country. The POCO M2 Pro was also spotted on Xiaomi India website not too long ago. Since this phone certainly seems to exist and is a brand new series, we believe that the POCO M2 Pro will be the next POCO phone to launch in India.

As for the POCO M2 Pro specifications, details are slim at the moment. There have been some reports in the past that the POCO M2 Pro will be a version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro, but we suggest you take this rumour with a pinch of salt. The smartphone may also be cheaper than the POCO X2 as the company has stated that it is targeting different price segments. We expect the company to start revealing some details about its next POCO phone in the days to come.
