Samsung Galaxy M41 was expected to launch in India this month and a recent report said that the company was testing CSOT flexible OLED panel from TCL for the smartphone. Now, the same website claims the Galaxy M41 development has been reportedly called off and Samsung has dropped the idea of outsourcing panels. The report by The Elec further adds the South Korean giant will release the Samsung Galaxy M51 instead, which has also been in the works for some time now.
While the Samsung Galaxy M51 specifications aren’t entirely available, speculations are rife that it could be a rebrand of the Galaxy A51 with a few hardware and design changes. Samsung toyed with the idea of using display from the China vendors for the Galaxy M41, but they were unable to meet the quality requirements hence will source the panels from Samsung Display. It was recently reported that Samsung intends to use Chinese panels to reduce the costs of its mid-range and budget phones.
Samsung Galaxy M51 specifications
According to the earlier report, the Samsung Galaxy M51 will reportedly ship with Snapdragon 675 SoC coupled with 8GB RAM. It is likely to run Android 10 OS with OneUI 2.0 custom layer on top and pack 128GB internal storage. The handset will feature a quad-camera setup with 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. The handset is tipped to rock an in-display fingerprint sensor for security, meaning you can expect an AMOLED display. The Galaxy M51 is likely to pack a beefy battery with fast-charging support and might adopt a punch-hole design for the selfie camera. We should learn more about the Galaxy M51 going forward.
