The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G has been launched globally. The handset is a faster and 5G-enabled version of the original Samsung Galaxy Z Flip (review), which was unveiled earlier this year alongside the S20 lineup. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is the first from Samsung to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865+ SoC. Additionally, the phone comes in Mystic Gray and Mystic Bronze colour options – the latter we’re expected to see on the Galaxy Note 20 phones as well. Apart from this, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G has the same vertical folding design and specifications, including dual displays, as the original Galaxy Z Flip.
“We are excited to bring next-generation speed and connectivity to the Galaxy Z Flip which further expands our portfolio of 5G devices, empowering consumers with meaningful experiences to help them do more of what they love,” Samsung’s President and Head of Mobile Communications Business Dr TM Roh said.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G price and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G price in the US at $1,499.99 (~Rs 1,12,000) for the sole 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The handset will be available for sale in the country via online through AT&T, Best Buy, Samsung.com, T-Mobile and Amazon.com. There is no word yet on the Galaxy Z Flip’s India launch.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 865+ SoC instead of Snapdragon 855+ chipset that powered the original foldable phone. The handset sports a 6.7-inch full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex display with 21.5:9 aspect ratio and a 1.06-inch secondary colour display on the cover. The handset runs Android 10 out of the box with One UI 2.0 on top.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G rocks a dual camera setup at the back, which includes a 12MP 123-degree ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 and 12MP 78-degree wide-angle sensor with f/1.8, 8x digital zoom as well as support for HDR10+ recording. Up front, the phone features a 10MP snapper for selfies and video chats. The smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and a 3,300mAh battery with support for 15W fast-charging. Other features include wireless charging support, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS/Galileo/Glonass/BeiDou, and Type-C port. The handset measures 73.6mm x 87.4mm x 17.4mm (when folded) – 73.6mm x 167.3mm x 7.2mm (when unfolded) and weigh 183 grams.
