  • OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has detailed some of the features included in the upcoming budget OnePlus TVs

OnePlus will be launching mid-range and entry-level OnePlus TV models in India on July 2nd. The company has been teasing a few features such as colourful displays and a premium experience, much like the high-end Q1 series. In a post on Wednesday, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau spoke in detail about some of the features that will be coming to the affordable OnePlus TV. The company’s main focus with the upcoming OnePlus TV models is on picture quality with the help of DCI-P3 color gamut, Gamma Engine and Dolby Vision.

Lau says that the upcoming OnePlus TVs will have a wide color gamut so as to offer a vivid display. With most HDR content today using DCI-P3 instead of Rec. 709, the new OnePlus TVs are also equipped to deliver “exceptional DCI-P3 performance”. Both the entry-level and mid-range TVs will offer 93 percent DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. The company calls this the OnePlus Cinematic Display.

The mid-range OnePlus TV will come with a suite of technologies, called Gamma Engine, to enhance the picture quality even further. Gamma Engine uses processing enhancements such as super resolution, dynamic contrast, MEMC, color space mapping, anti-aliasing, and noise reduction to offer a sharper, clearer, and a smoother video experience.

In addition to all of this, the affordable OnePlus TV will also come with Dolby Vision support. It isn’t clear at the moment whether the entry-level model will also come with Dolby Vision certification.

There is still much we don’t know about the budget OnePlus TVs such as their designs and screen sizes. We expect the company to these these aspects as well in the days leading up to the July 2nd launch. The company has revealed that the entry-level model will be priced starting at under Rs 20,000.
